It is a decent story in need of an editor... or spellcheck... or anyone to give it a quick read through.I wanted to like this book. I really did. But instead I found it to be only mildly entertaining at best. Editing errors are usually not a huge deal for me. I make sure to mention them in a review because I know that some people find them hard to overlook. This book is an exception to the rule. I almost stop reading several times because the editing errors were consuming the story. It is not just typos or a slip up here and there. This book contains a lot of grammatical errors, punctuation mistakes, tense mix ups, typos and even missing words. There were even parts where comas and periods were mixed up. To top it all of there were some slight story inconsistencies. Ahh!
The author, Ellie R. Hunter, grew up in England and it is reflected in the writing. 'Realized' is 'realised', 'come around' is 'come round'... stuff like that. Everything had an English tint to it. But even so, there were words that were mixed up that you can't really blame on different dialects.
The story is told from an alternating POV, narrated by Alannah and Cas. There is a slight difference in their narrative style-he is more crude- but not a big difference. There isn't even much of a difference in their dialog until halfway through the book. People do not all speak the same way! Dialog should be written to reflect that.
I did love how the bikers are protective to the core of their family and club. They all love Alannah and treat her like a princess while still managing not to overly shield her from the grit of life in an outlaw motorcycle club.
Alannah loves these men for what they are. She does not have blinders on when it comes to her family.
To me, Cas just isn't a hard enough hero for this genre. There are times when he is intense, but for most of the book he is completely whipped by Alannah, or begging for her forgiveness. A biker hero is supposed to love hard and play hard. They are supposed to go soft on the inside for their woman but still stay strong on the outside. That is a large part of their appeal.
Alannah is pretty strong in her own way. I mean, she would have to be given that she grew up in the club. She can shoot a gun and a fiesty side that is fairly strong at the begining of the book but fades away as the story develops. I wish it would have remain. Instead she slowly turned into the biker version of a Stepford Wife.
The story does contain a fair amount of sex, but it is not as "sex crazed" as most MC books out there that are filled with dirty talk and hard sex (again... part of their appeal).

Biker Bait The Lost Souls MC Series Book 1 edition by Ellie R Hunter Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I'm hooked on this story and cannot wait for the next book! But don't worry, this is not a serial where there is a cliffhanger at the end and nothing is resolved. This book ends but lets you know it isn't over yet. Overall the story is a bit unbelievable and the past "almost romance" could have been explored more, but it is a fast paces fun read and that would have slowed it down.
If I had the option this story would have 3.5 stars for grammar. There are question marks after the most ridiculous sentences and period after questions. Grammatically it is not the worst I have read, but it was distracting. My request for potentially great authors is to proofread your work!!! Also, it would be great if would use the kindle to device and apps to help correct typos and obvious errors. They can track how many people quote a sentence- well, I want to correct grammar and punctuation!
The story was interesting then it felt stretched out and got boring and slow, I found myself flipping a lot. Now it could be just me as this is not the first book lately this has happened to while I have been in search for a new series to read. Take a chance you might like it. For me however I am not sure if I will read the next one.
What I liked Love the concept of the book, the hero who must stay away from the heroine to maintain his MC code of honor, the heroine who is hurt and angered by his cold shoulder. What a great set up.
What I didn't like A professional editor would be helpful. Hope this author hires one, and listens, as there's talent here.
The sentence structure was weird, often backwards, with reaction before action.
The characters - in a sex/love scene, the essential character of the hero/heroine should not suddenly flip-flop. She's a virgin, and yet the moment the hero touches her she turns into a challenging, X-rated temptress who knows what she wants and goes after it, ripping her clothes off and posing? Sorry, not likely. I know she's a biker chick, but for her, this is about love, or at least a crush. She's still an inexperienced girl with her first love. She should act like it.
Didn't finish.
"While I don’t want to depend on anyone, I do want someone to look at me like I’m the only one they can see, like the fairy tales my Aunt Kitty used to read to me when I was little. Although I never imagined a prince riding in on his horse. It was always a biker on his Harley." Well Alannah, gurrrrrllll, that's what a lot of us want!
Biker Bait is a book about love, heartbreak, betrayal, pretty much any emotion, it is in this book! Just enough angst to make it interesting and enough warmth to make it cozy. Actually, scratch that because this book is HOT! Cas is h.o. capital T! Alannah is strong willed and independent but yet smart enough to know when her man needs to be her protector. This story has great character development and chemistry. Cas and Alannah are one of my favorite couples!
Another new MC series, and it looks to be a very good one. I enjoyed this book very much. It started off well, was fast paced and had interesting characters. It could use some editing but all in all it was very good. The story was very different and surprised me with where it was headed. I have read many MC books and have never seen this plot. I was disappointed with one part of this book, I won't spoil it for anyone who reads it but, you'll know it when you read it. Alannah was born and raised in the biker world and Cas is VP of The Lost Souls. Good couple, Good MC, Good Start, Good book.
